happiness

"Work is a large part of life so if we are not happy in our work we are not happy in our lives. If we are happy in our work it will be good."

a happy way of business

Our business really is different than just about any other business you will find. For example, even though we manage serious projects we have no proper offices. Although we'd love to come and meet you, you can not visit us except on the internet. We have no hierarchy or unkind words for one another. We do not want to change this. We do not have to drive to work every day, we buy green energy, carbon offset all our flights and we think about the impact our actions have on others. In return everyone that works for us gets what they need to be happy. Most of us work from our homes and all of us except Nigel have small children and we do not want to be away from them all day.

How do we do this and still do our work so well? We have a secure, web-based server for all our restaurant designs which are filed only electronically. We meet using video conferences nearly every day, sometimes we meet clients together or get together for intensive design meetings. We all feel very close because some of us have known each another for many years. We often joke that we are the world's smallest multi-national corporation. Judi, Cripsin and Stephen all live in Southern England. Nigel Witham lives near London but sometimes works from his holiday apartment in Cairns, Australia, or wherever he takes his computer (recently Milan, Dubai and Iceland). Vicky Funnell, works from her home in Wellington, New Zealand where she also looks after her two toddlers and Sanjay Mistry works from an office attached to his home in Baroda, Gujarat India. Two or three times a year Sanjay and Nigel meet, normally in the UK, but sometimes in India. Vicky and Nigel worked together in the UK for four years until 2004.

Because of the way we work we can work on projects anywhere in the world.

Nigel and Judi are members of The Chartered Society of Designers who have a Code of Professional Conduct. You can see the code at http://www.csd.org.uk. You will see that this code of conduct ensures we act for you transparently and that we do not over commit.

When necessary for large or complex projects we are able to partner with other professional designers to form specialist teams. In this way we can find the right people for the work and not the other way around.

If you are an experienced, professional designer and you think you could be happy working our way please send us an email and let us know more about you.

If you are looking for a happy design team to design your cafe, bar or restaurant, that doesn't make promises it can't keep, and aims to make you happy too then we'd love to hear from you.
